Prepare yourself for the biggest evening of comedy even seen in Totnes, as the Totnes Comedy Lounge goes large and takesover Civic Hall to bring you an evening with the father of alternative comedy Arthur Smith.
Arthur is a true comedy legend. Grumpy Old Man, playwright, and one of the most familar faces on the UK comedy scene, this is a rare opportunity to see such a comedy god in Totnes.
Arthur's work is known around the globe. He has written four plays including, An Evening with Gary Lineker, which was nominated for an Olivier Award and made into a TV film, and Live Bed Show which has a run in the West End starring Caroline Quentin and Paul Merton.
Arthur currently presents BBC Radio 4’s Excess Baggage and his ever-popular The Smith Lectures transmits on BBC Radio 2.
Arthur is about to record a new radio comedy Arthur Smith's Last Hangover for BBC Radio 4 and Totnes will be lucky enough to be among the first to enjoy his hilarious new material.
Helpling Arthur make this and evening of comedy to live long in the memory are two of the UK's biggest club comedians, Taylor Glenn and Dave Thompson.
After winning the Welsh Unsigned Stand Up Award in 2010, Taylor Glenn has quickly established herself as a sought after stand up and compere on the UK and European circuit, gigging in 9 countries and venues in the UK including The Comedy Store, Glee Club, Banana Cabaret, Komedia Brighton, Baby Blue, and St. David’s Hall.
With a background in improvisational theatre and sketch comedy writing and performance, Taylor is as comfortable in front of a camera as she is in front of a crowd and has written for, produced, and performed in several sketch comedy pilots and contributed to radio and various publications.
And hosting the evening, as well as adding his own unique recipe of wit, will be Dave Thompson. Believe it or not, Dave is a hero to pre-school kids even they wouldn't recognise him without his TInky Winky suit on! But, Dave is a lot more than a camp Tellytubby.
Dave is an international stand-up comedian and compere, known for his brilliant one-liners and odd persona. He has written for Harry Hill's TV Burp! and The Sketch Show, which were broadcast on ITV. Both series of The Sketch Show have sold around the world, including to CBS in America.
