ORGANISERS OF THE Totnes & District Agricultural Show have taken the decision to postpone this year’s event owing to the unprecedented poor weather conditions.
All trade stall holders have been told their positions will be secured for the new date of Sunday 26th August, when organisers hope the UK has seen the back of the record breaking wet weather. The UK has experienced the worst summer in more than 100 years, but forecasts are improving.
Record rainfall has put paid to Totnes Show at end of July as organisers now target late August date
The show's Chairmain, Peter Bethell said: “We wanted the show to go ahead rather than to cancel. So many people work hard throughout the year to make it a wonderful event and it is enjoyed by many people both visitors to the area as well as the exhibitors themselves”.
The new show date is Sunday 26th August and it is expected that this will result in excellent visitor numbers as it is a bank holiday weekend. This, hope show organisers, will build upon the record visitor attendance numbers which have grown significantly over the last few years, culminating in over 16,000 ticket sales last year.
"We are hopeful that all those exhibitors and trade stand holders who have already entered will be able to come on this date," said the show's website. "All trade and exhibitor entries will stand in all sections. f you are unable to attend we will offer a refund."
All admission tickets and printed literature relating to the show date of 29th July 2012 will also be valid for the new date.
